Project location

Redbridge London Borough Council

Redbridge London Borough Council is the local authority for Redbridge in Greater London and is one of the capitals 32 borough councils. Redbridge is home to over 300,000 people and the council is committed to reducing its green gas emissions. The council has set two key goals of making all of its operations carbon neutral by 2030 and to reduce all emissions to zero by 2050.

The council identified that they could make a huge electricity saving by changing their schools old inefficient lighting to LED plus improve the boroughs educational learning environment and tendered the project in early 2022.

After being successful through a UK wide tender process, Energy Efficient Solutions Group (EES Group) were initially appointed to upgrade 20 number of Redbridge’s sites.

Below are images taken from Trinity Catholic High School.

These sites encompassed 21 schools across the borough, including Churchfield School, Fullwood Primary School, Roding Primary School, and Grove Primary School. Each school had unique requirements, and EES Group had to work diligently to tailor lighting designs and fittings to meet their specific needs.

what we did…

All sites were delivered on time and budget and thanks to EES Group’s higher output luminaries the savings were around 10% higher than anticipated. This was achieved by careful analysing every room and installing the most efficient possible. This included sensors in low used areas too.

The commitment that Redbridge has given to EES Group in helping them reduce their carbon footprint highlights the long-term working relationship, the quality of work, innovation in design and value for money that we provide.

The success of this ongoing and sustainable project is due to the team at EES Group having the ability to provide each site with the required LED luminaries, along with an experienced and professional installation team that undertakes the work.

Liaising with the principal contacts including site managers, business development managers and head teachers is vital to a project’s success during its planning and execution. EES Group have been sensitive to Redbridge’s needs and we only install at times appropriate to the project to cause little to no disruption. We have our own dedicated project manager for all our lighting upgrades and only use our own in house highly trained electricians.

We pride ourselves on being capable of organising and communicating between the many stakeholders that are involved with these projects ensuring that whole process was completed smoothly..

As a producer and installer of lighting products, it is EES Group’s responsibility to ensure that measures are in place to allow for the environmentally sound disposal of our products and the ones we replace once they reach the end of their lives.

This includes providing for the cost of recovery and treatment of the products. We use Lumicom and their ‘Lighting Specific Compliance Scheme’ who collect the old light fittings that we take from site and they recycle them at no extra cost. We also offer a 10 year warranty on all LED products and this has given Redbridge reassurance of our quality and reputation.
