We first approached Reading Football Club after Energy Efficient Solutions Group sponsored a match and noticed there wasn’t any LED lighting around the stadium. After presenting the details and showing that the stadium could save up to 80% on electricity bills it was something that was taken into further discussion.

Reading FC had been facing significant energy costs, spending approximately £143,912 per annum on lighting alone. The stadium’s existing fluorescent lighting system was not only inefficient but also required frequent maintenance, leading to additional operational expenses. To address these challenges, the club sought a more energy-efficient solution that would maintain the necessary LUX levels while significantly reducing costs.
EESG implemented a comprehensive LED lighting upgrade, replacing the outdated fluorescent fittings with state-of-the-art 28W Pririo Panels, 12W Dunes, 28W Aviums, and 28W Kenways. This innovative lighting design ensured optimal light distribution, improving visibility and performance across the stadium. The installation was carefully planned to meet the club’s specific requirements, enhancing both matchday experiences and daily operations.
Following the installation, Reading FC saw a remarkable 80% reduction in energy consumption, bringing their annual lighting costs down to £28,953—a substantial saving of £114,959 per year. The transition to LED not only lowered electricity bills but also significantly reduced maintenance needs, as the new fittings have a much longer lifespan compared to traditional fluorescent lighting.
