Site Manager – Midlands

The Energy Efficient Solutions Group was born out of extensive experience gained in the lighting industry, actively promoting the energy saving benefits of LED lighting through our organisation Energy Saving Lighting. From this background, the Group has evolved to help further support our clients with their drive towards decarbonisation and Net Zero, providing a wide range of solutions including LED Lighting, Solar PV, Heating solutions, Electric Vehicle Charging and Air Purification.

The Role:

The role reports to the Senior Project Management team. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in renewable energy systems, and the ability to manage resources effectively while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. As Site Manager you will be responsible for coordinating all on-site activities and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, the Site Manager serves as a central figure in project delivery. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time. 

Key Activities:

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities at the worksite, including construction, installation, commissioning, and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, safety compliance, and environmental impact.
  • Develop and enforce strict health and safety protocols to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment.
  • Conduct risk assessments, implement hazard controls, and provide safety training to workers to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Promote effective communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork among site personnel to maximise productivity and morale.
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure that all work performed meets project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Address non-conformances, defects, and customer concerns promptly and effectively to maintain project quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, progress logs, inspection records, and incident reports.
  • Prepare regular reports, and documentation for management, clients, to track project performance and compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in site management, construction, or project management is essential. Candidates should have a track record of successfully overseeing construction projects, managing teams, and delivering results.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are crucial for Site Managers to effectively lead and motivate teams, communicate with stakeholders, and resolve conflicts. You should demonstrate the ability to inspire trust, delegate tasks, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive working environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices is essential for Site Managers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of workers on construction sites. Candidates should be familiar with relevant legislation, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, and hold certifications such as the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  • Site Managers should possess a strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, engineering principles, and construction materials. They should be able to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents, and provide technical guidance to project teams as needed.
  • Attention to detail is crucial for Site Managers to ensure that construction projects adhere to specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Candidates should have a keen eye for detail, the ability to identify discrepancies or deficiencies, and the diligence to address them promptly.
  • Proficiency in project management principles, methodologies, and tools is critical for the role to plan, execute, and monitor construction projects effectively. You should be skilled in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder management. Certification in project management, such as PRINCE2 or Project Management Professional (PMP), is desirable.
