Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the South East of England. It provides a full range of general hospital services, with some areas of specialist complex care, to around 560,000 people living in West Kent and East Sussex. The Trust is committed to continually looking at ways to combat climate change and reduce it’s carbon footprint.

what we did…
The Trust identified a huge electricity saving could be made by changing their current lighting to LED at Maidstone Hospital. Following a formal tender process Energy Efficient Solutions Group were selected to upgrade 10,000 luminaries to LED.
Having experience working on large scale projects, EES Group split the hospital into 5 phases, each with its own deadline. ESS Group had to manage working on High Dependency Wards, Laboratories and Operating Theatres, which would bring unique challenges, however they drew on their experience where communicating with the client is key.
For the hospital to benefit in full from the new installation, EES Group rewired LED compatible dimming solutions to reflect the arrangement currently in place, which enabled staff to continue working with a system they were already used to.
The success of the project was due to installing the correct products, EES Group installation team and having a dedicated project manager who was capable of organising and communicating a large and complex project where many stakeholders needed to be considered. This was coupled with excellent client support so the whole process was completed smoothly with no serious complaint or issue.
Experienced and professional EES Group staff sensitively undertook all of the work liaising with clinical, facilities management and cleaning staff during the planning and execution of the project and only installed the new lighting at times appropriate to the hospital.
