Senior Project Manager

The Role: 

Due to continuous growth and internal promotions, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to enhance our operational team within our fast-growing organisation. You must have extensive experience of project management methodologies as well as demonstrable experience of leading, developing and building project teams. As Senior Project Manager you will be accountable for the renewable project team to ensure that all project objectives and activities are delivered. From evaluating and implementing project program key milestones, through the delivery phases and ensuring all strategic requirements are satisfied. The role will ensure that client expectations are achieved and that close out of projects from a financial and customer experience perspective are delivered. 

Key Activities: 

  • Team Leadership – Proven ability to inspire and motivate teams, lead by example, and guide the team through challenges and foster a positive work environment. Guide and develop the team’s skills and capabilities, provide mentoring, feedback, and opportunities for growth to ensure team members reach their full potential. 
  • Project Planning – Develop project plans, outlining scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements. Create a comprehensive project schedule and allocate resources accordingly. Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues. 
  • Stakeholder Management – Identify and engage key stakeholders, both internal and external. Communicate project progress and address concerns. Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and other relevant parties. 
  • Budget Management – Develop and manage the project budget. Monitor and control project expenses. Ensure financial accountability and adherence to budget constraints. 
  • Quality Assurance – Establish and enforce quality standards for project deliverables. Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Risk Management – Identify potential risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation. Regularly assess and update the risk management plan. Implement contingency plans as needed. 
  • Project Monitoring and Reporting – Monitor project progress against milestones and deliverables. Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders. Address deviations from the project plan and take corrective actions. 
  • Change Management – Effectively manage changes to project scope, schedule, and resources. Assess the impact of changes and communicate adjustments to the team and stakeholders. 
  • Communication – Facilitate effective communication between team members and stakeholders. Resolve conflicts and ensure clear understanding of project objectives. 

Required Skills: 

  • Significant experience of project management in technical or renewable technologies, ideally with in-depth knowledge of construction and contractual project management. APM Practitioner, MSP or Prince 2 Practitioner, applicants should be educated to degree level or demonstrate significant, relevant experience. 
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. This includes experience in planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and executives. This includes the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams. This involves understanding their needs and expectations and ensuring effective communication throughout the project. 
  • Management of team, ensuring that employees have a dynamic and supportive workspace and the resources necessary to provide outstanding services to clients, Guide and mentor project managers and oversee delivery of projects undertaken by them. 
  • Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks. The ability to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans is crucial. 
  • Understanding and managing project budgets, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and making financial decisions to ensure the project stays within budget. 
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are important for addressing issues that may arise within the project team or with stakeholders. 
  • The ability to adapt to changes and unforeseen challenges in a dynamic project environment. 
  • Proficient in negotiation techniques for managing contracts, agreements, and resolving conflicts with stakeholders. 
  • Effective time management skills to ensure that projects are completed within specified timelines. 
  • Detailed understanding of Health & Safety and legal requirements.
